Bruno Perillo graduated from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 2002. Growing up in the Midwest, he spent his free time drawing that, which surrounded him. Unbeknownst to him, these rooms, spaces and landscapes would eventually become the cornerstones of his contemporary aesthetic. Now a resident of New York City, Perillo frequently paints portraits depicting subjects of the new bohemian culture set in dark, quiet landscapes that skirt the fine line between probability and improbability. He merges various styles, and in doing so, renders the particularity of ‘truth,’ leaving moments of uncertainty to exist naturally and therefore imprecisely. The resulting images invite viewers to independently resolve each narrative.
